Trio Catch

From Baroque to today: Trio Catch, Milan Pala and the free form
The Fantasia – an improvisational, highly expressive piece of music – has lost none of its charm to this day. With joyful performances, Trio Catch and violinist Milan Pala explore this fascinating free form, journeying back to the Baroque master Henry Purcell and then swiftly returning to the present.
FonoForum described Trio Catch as »one of the most interesting chamber music ensembles of recent times, one that understands listening as a fundamentally open space of experience.« The musicians virtuosically unfold the diverse tonal hues of clarinet, cello, and piano. With Slovakian violinist Milan Pala at their center, they explore the musical form of the Fantasia and, in the blink of an eye, span three centuries from Henry Purcell to the premiere of two new works commissioned by the Kölner Philharmonie.
