Voces Suaves – »liebliche Stimmen« – ist der Name des Basler Vokalensembles, das in solistischer Besetzung und mit warmem, vollem Klang sein Publikum verzaubert und in das Elisabethanische Zeitalter in England entführt: Es war die Blütezeit der Madrigale und mehrstimmigen Songs.
2023 wird der 400. Todestag zweier großer englischer Komponisten der späten Renaissance gefeiert: William Byrd und Thomas Weelkes. Es lohnt sich, den reichen Schatz ihrer Madrigale und weltlichen Lieder zu entdecken – dargeboten von den exzellenten Stimmen des Vokalensembles Voces Suaves, dessen Wiege die renommierte Baseler Schola Cantorum Basiliensis war. Der israelische Lautenist Orí Harmelin greift in die Saiten und lässt mit den Sängern den erstaunlichen Kosmos der Elisabethanischen Epoche erstehen.
