The splendour of Baroque opera – Handel meets Telemann and lesser-known composers
‘Mirrors’ is the theme of a Baroque opera evening in which Handel's heroine roles are juxtaposed with arias by lesser-known composers. Jeanine De Bique unfolds her vocal wonders and is carried musically by Concerto Cologne.
The voice of Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique is a force of nature. The ‘Mirrors’ project fulfils a long-cherished wish for her: ‘It seems that everything that has shaped me as a person and a musician has given me the means to meet the musical and emotional demands of the programme,’ says Jeanine De Bique. ‘I couldn't have wished for better companions than Concerto Köln.'
