Bomsori | Konzerthausorchester Berlin | Joana Mallwitz

Romantic masterpieces: Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5
This concert promises a summit meeting of two exceptional musicians: violinist Bomsori and Joana Mallwitz, chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
Not only have two absolute showpieces of the Romantic repertoire been selected for this gala. Both works, Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto and Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, are in the melancholic key of E minor. The programme opens with the ‘Faust’ Overture penned by the Romantic composer Emilie Mayer, who was praised by her contemporaries as the ‘female Beethoven’. Between lyrically touching and virtuosically sparkling, Korean violinist Bomsori will then showcase her entire violin artistry in Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto. Joana Mallwitz and her orchestra are also guaranteed to give you goose bumps in the finale when they explore the Russian soul in Tchaikovsky's Fifth.
