Tchaikovsky's enthusiasm for a young violinist inspired him to write his violin concerto, which Patricia Kopatchinskaja knows how to imbue with fresh colours and unexpected brilliance every time she performs it. In Maxim Emelyanychev, she has a captivating musical ‘partner in crime’ at her side. With the versatile original orchestra Les Siècles, he also presents Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony (‘Pathétique’), dedicated to the composer's beloved nephew and filled with tragic longing.
