What an emotional journey! The colourful Gewandhaus Orchestra, led by its principal conductor Andris Nelsons, brings landscapes of the soul and nature to life: a sea scene, a love story, a musical departure with a broad horizon.

Andris Nelsons has always known how to unleash all musical forces to great effect. As Kapellmeister of the Leipzig Gewandhaus, he now explores sonorous places with his musicians: the coast of Cornwall in Ethel Smyth's highly romantic overture to the opera ‘The Wreckers’ (once premiered in Leipzig). The realm of tragic love in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in Tchaikovsky's sensual soundscape. America's longing and musical richness in Dvořák's gripping symphony ‘From the New World’.
