Lukas Sternath | Philharmonia Orchestra | Santtu Matias Rouvali

Beethoven | Chin | Tschaikowsky
A conductor (Santtu-Matias Rouvali) surrounded by orchestra musicians passionately leads a classical performance. String players are prominently visible in the foreground.

Focus and passion: Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 & Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4

Coolness and concentration in his demeanour, fire and brilliance in his playing: the young pianist Lukas Sternath – multiple competition winner, Igor Levit student, rising star – is just starting his international career. He has long been known in Cologne. Now he is returning!

This time, Lukas Sternath brings with him Ludwig van Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto, in which the freedom-loving composer led festive, rebellious sounds through dreamlike worlds into jubilant certainty. He is accompanied by the sonorous London Philharmonia Orchestra, which, under its principal conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, brings Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's fateful Fourth Symphony to life: passionate and ultimately full of the will to live.
