Elisabeth Leonskaja | Concertgebouw Kamerorkest

Portrait Elisabeth Leonskaja Portrait Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
Her humility before the composer and her experience as a pianist throughout her career make Elisabeth Leonskaja an ideal interpreter of Mozart. This is particularly true in a concerto that occupies a special place in the Salzburg genius's prolific oeuvre: the famous »Jenamy« concerto.
It represents a quantum leap in the history of the genre, composed during Mozart's time in Salzburg, and was the starting point for the later master concerts of his Viennese years. Not only the enhancement of the piano part, but also the typical Mozart tone in the wind instruments of the orchestra raises the concerto to a whole new level. While the pianist and orchestra perform the first half of the concert together, the second half belongs entirely to the Concertgebouw Kamerorkest. After the classical Mozart, things take a romantic turn with Tschaikowsky's »Souvenir de Florence«, in which the composer recalls his extremely fulfilling summer stay in Tuscany with feelings of happiness.
