Beethoven: Sinfonie Nr. 5

Fate and the Mirror World: The Ensemble Resonanz between yesterday and today
Classical music, new music, and club culture: the experimental Ensemble Resonanz, based at Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie concert hall, builds bridges between music and audience, between yesterday and today, with its unusual program concepts.
With Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, the ensemble focuses on one of the most famous works of classical music. Beethoven made himself immortal with just the four pounding notes at the beginning of the »Fate Symphony«. At the end, the orchestra's jubilation knows no bounds when the sombre minor key beginning culminates in spectacular C major: a real goose bump moment. While »Entr'act« by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw refers to Haydn's last string quartet, we suddenly find ourselves »looking at the other side of Alice's mirror in Wonderland«, according to the composer.
