Abel Selaocoe & Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

Cello meets cultures: Abel Selaocoe tells stories from Africa, France and the Balkans
The concerts of cellist and composer Abel Selaocoe are truly astonishing. The South African musical adventurer effortlessly builds bridges between classical and world music. Together with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, he now invites audiences to an exciting musical dialogue between Africa, France and the Balkans.
First, the OPUS Klassik award-winning musician tells musical stories from South Africa and about his ancestors. With dances, operas and ballets by the French Baroque greats Jean-Baptiste Lully and Jean-Philippe Rameau, Abel Selaocoe then moves feather-light with his jumping cello bow across the strings. And in between, he even treats listeners to ‘limping dance music’ in the ‘Bagatelles’ by Hungarian Bartók admirer György Ligeti.
