Buxtehude: Membra Jesu
Kölner Philharmonie

Emotional Baroque music: Buxtehude's Passion cantatas with Gli Incogniti and Voces Suaves Voces Suaves | Gli Incogniti | Amandine Beyer: Buxtehude
Baroque violinist Amandine Beyer, her ensemble Gli Incogniti and the unmistakable voices of Voces Suaves devote themselves to the impressive Passion cantatas »Membra Jesu« by Baroque composer Dietrich Buxtehude: vocal and instrumental music that gets under your skin.
With vivid medieval poetry and biblical texts, Dietrich Buxtehude's cantata cycle »Membra Jesu« reflects on the crucifixion of Jesus. The Basel vocal ensemble Voces Suaves, known for its warm and full sound and its emotionally powerful interpretations of early music, is completely in its element here. The singers are accompanied by the ensemble Gli Incogniti: also from Basel, also renowned experts in early music, led by the charismatic French violinist Amandine Beyer.
