Sabine Devieilhe | Mathieu Pordoy
Werke von Fanny Hensel bis Claude Debussy

A different perspective on the Kunstlied: Sabine Devieilhe celebrates female composers
Sounds like spun gold: with crystal-clear coloratura and lyrical warmth, Sabine Devieilhe has long established herself among the top ranks of international singing stars. In her programme, she emphasises the female perspective on art song.
For example, with works by Fanny Hensel, the highly talented sister of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, who, like so many of her fellow female composers, had to contend with appalling clichés. Or Alma Mahler, who was not only the wife of Gustav Mahler, but also a composer herself. Or Mélanie Bonis, who studied with Claude Debussy and shortened her name to the gender-neutral Mel. Together with her piano partner Mathieu Pardoy, Sabine Devieilhe gives a voice to these artists who were long condemned to silence.
