Renaud Capuçon | Budapest Festival Orchestra | Iván Fischer

Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto & Rarities by Hensel and Strauss
A summit meeting of two of the most important musicians of our time. Violinist Renaud Capuçon will be performing with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and conductor Iván Fischer at the Philharmonie. It will also be a summit meeting of composers, with Felix Mendelssohn standing alongside Richard Strauss.
The concert begins with Fanny Hensel's Morgengruß (Morning Greeting), sung by the musicians of the orchestra, a wonderful transition to the violin concerto by her brother Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, which is undoubtedly a concert classic of the Romantic period. French violinist Renaud Capuçon is one of the most sought-after soloists in the international music world and is the ideal ambassador for this work. In addition, the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer will present an often overlooked masterpiece by Richard Strauss. »I wanted to renew dance with Joseph's Legend,« the composer said in retrospect about his ballet »Josephs Legende« (Joseph's Legend).
