Nils Mönkemeyer & William Youn

Bridges from Mozart to the present day with Nils Mönkemeyer and William Youn
Under the motto ‘Past in Motion,’ Nils Mönkemeyer and William Youn build bridges from Mozart to the present, linger with Schubert and Brahms, and explore the special sonority of the fortepiano, whose quieter tones enable particularly sensitive music-making.
Nils Mönkemeyer and William Youn have been playing together as a duo for many years and have developed a kind of telepathic connection with each other. Schubert's enchanting Arpeggione Sonata offers them the opportunity to unfold their full expressive power. The fortepiano, with its transparent, soft sound, is particularly well suited to the timbre of the viola – close your eyes and enjoy!
In the concerts of the Lied, Chamber Music, and Quartetto series, we aim to create an atmosphere that brings musicians and the audience closer together—through brief introductions and lighting that make our large concert hall feel a bit like a chamber music venue. Come closer!
Thomas Fiedler will serve as the host for this concert.
