Marie Jacquot – Bruckner's Sixth

Marie Jacquot, principal conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester, is particularly fond of Bruckner's music. This time, she focuses on his »boldes« symphony – as the composer himself called his Sixth. He was probably referring to the courageous soundscapes of the orchestral work, which, in addition to expansive outer movements, includes a warming adagio, the emotional core of this symphony. World-class cellist Gautier Capuçon opens the concert evening with Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto – elegant melodies and masterful brilliance go hand in hand here.
