»Impulse: Music in Motion«

Hear Tchaikovsky, see Shostakovich – when music and movement collide, the impact is exhilarating
Setting string sounds in motion – for the Swedish dancer and choreographer Örjan Andersson, this is a task that is as compelling as it is inspiring. The agile musicians of the Scottish Ensemble provide the sonic impulse from which movement develops.
»I am just as moved by the Scottish Ensemble as I am by my own dancers,« admits choreographer Örjan Andersson. It is precisely this mutual inspiration that lies at the heart of their trusting collaboration. The musicians interpret expressive music by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky – and find themselves moving too. Sound becomes gesture, movement a visible echo of the music. Thus, both forms of expression merge into a living dialogue. Step by step, a fascinating Gesamtkunstwerk takes shape.
