»Moon over Georgia«

Giorgi Gigashvili is one of the most fascinating musical figures of our time. Not only because this native of Georgia is a fantastic pianist. He devotes himself to each of his many musical passions with deep dedication. These include the songs of his homeland, but also the worlds of pop and jazz.

Giorgi Gigashvili invites us into this sonic cosmos with his programme »Moon over Georgia« for which he has invited close musician friends. These include the award-winning mezzo-soprano Natalia Kutateladze as well as the Ensemble Resonanz from Hamburg. Together with them, he not only explores the »Caucasian soundscape« through works by, for example, the Georgian master Giya Kancheli. In between, there is piano music by Bach, Scarlatti and Ravel. And Giorgi Gigashvili also demonstrates his vocal talents – for instance, in a duet with Natalia Kutateladze on the jazz classic »Over the Rainbow«!
