Gstaad Festival Orchestra

A Tailor-Made Concerto
Daniel Hope is not only one of the most outstanding violinists of our time but is also known for his work as an artistic director dedicated to bridging various musical traditions and advocating for cultural exchange.
He is bringing along a most intimately and expressively written violin concerto by the English composer Edward Elgar. It is a work that seems tailor-made for Hope. It demands the greatest possible virtuosity from its soloist, requiring highly subtle phrasing and the ability to masterfully create and maintain musical suspense for long passages. Hope is faithfully accompanied by the committed and capable Gstaad Festival Orchestra, with whom he has close ties in his role as Artistic Director of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. After the interval, the orchestra celebrates Ludwig van Beethoven with a performance of his impressive Fifth Symphony in anticipation of the 2027 Beethoven anniversary year.
