Bamberger Symphoniker

Beethoven: Symphonies
Beethoven’s favourite place to relax and recharge was the woods. He is known to have once scribbled a note saying »Rapture in the forest!« Outside in nature, he felt well and strong.
His Sixth »Pastoral« Symphony tells of the composer’s love of the countryside. It comes with storms, birdsong and the murmur of a stream, but also with a cautionary note in the score reminding us that the emotions it evokes are more significant than the pictures it paints. In comparison, his seventh symphony is much more exuberant and optimistic. A critic at the premiere quite rightly described it as the »most melodious, pleasant and intelligible of all Beethoven’s symphonies«. Both symphonies will be performed by the wonderful Bamberg Symphoniker in a fitting contribution to Beethoven’s anniversary year. In 2027, the orchestra is scheduled to play all nine symphonies by the acclaimed titan of classical music in a series of concerts at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Kölner Philharmonie.
