Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 & Schumann's Symphony No. 4

Brussels Philharmonic | Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider
A man in a dark blue suit leans on a table with a violin and bow resting on it.

Bruch | Schumann | Weber

Max Bruch achieved lasting fame above all through his First Violin Concerto – a work of great lyrical beauty and emotional depth. Robert Schumann, by contrast, deliberately breaks with the traditional four-movement structure in his Fourth Symphony, shaping the work as a unified cycle – one he described as being created »from the deepest soul«.

The Danish-Israeli violinist Nikolaj Znaider, who has also served as Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lyon since 2020, demonstrates his artistry in both roles.
