The Scottish Ensemble does things a little differently: they play from memory, whilst standing – and best of all, they move around the stage as they play. Its programme, ‘Impulse: Music in Motion’, features two classics from the string orchestra repertoire: Shostakovich’s ‘Chamber Symphony’ and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Serenade for Strings’, which are made all the more impressive by the choreography.
