Saraste dirigiert Saint-Saëns und Beethoven

Alexander Malofeev | WDR Sinfonieorchester | Jukka-Pekka Saraste: Beethoven | Gordon | Saint-Saëns
Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev, who now lives in Berlin, is a rising star in the classical music world. He won his first international competition at the age of 13. Camille Saint-Saëns' Second Piano Concerto, with its pathos and sparkling virtuosity, is the perfect choice for Malofeev's WDR debut.

Unfortunately, Lionel Bringuier has had to withdraw from this concert project due to illness. The WDR Symphony Orchestra would like to thank its former principal conductor, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, who will take over the baton at short notice for the evening. This change at the podium is accompanied by a change to the programme. Instead of Albert Roussel’s Third Symphony and Ravel’s »La Valse«, as originally planned, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 will feature on the programme.
