Samora Pinderhughes feat. Elena Pinderhughes

»Black Spring«
A man (Samora Pinderhughes) sits in front of a wall filled with analog clocks. He wears a dark green sweater and appears thoughtful.

A rare family reunion on the US jazz scene

He may not have much in common with Bob Dylan, but Samora Pinderhughes is commonly referred to as a singer/songwriter – nothing could be more misleading! Limiting the 35-year-old pianist and singer to this genre alone would not do justice to his wide-ranging talent. A special guest will be gracing this evening: Elena Pinderhughes. The highly sought-after flautist and singer has already collaborated with greats such as Herbie Hancock and Christian McBride. Together with her brother Samora, she will be presenting a rare musical encounter at the Kölner Philharmonie.

The Bay Area around San Francisco is widely regarded as a hotbed for revolutionary musical activity – ideal conditions for a young artist to throw himself into the creative process. Samora Pinderhughes continues to do so today with a dedication that can only be described as astonishing. When he depicts the radical history of resistance within the Black community in the USA with his »Transformations Suite«, for example, one is immediately captivated by the intensity with which the 35-year-old brings it to the stage.
