The elusive Tenth Symphony. It often remains a fragment in music history as was the case with Gustav Mahler. Fortunately, however, he left behind enough sketches to complete the work. The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden is bringing this completed Tenth to Cologne.

»My hesitant thinking and my turbulent feelings.« In his Tenth Symphony, Gustav Mahler processes the joys and sorrows of love »with all the horrors of the time.« He writes on the score: »Madness, seize me, you cursed one! Destroy me, that I may forget that I am!« A composer between heaven and hell. Mahler sketches the musical apocalypse and, at the same time, his musical swan song. British musicologist Deryck Cooke became famous for completing the Tenth Symphony.
