Rising Stars: Giorgi Gigashvili

From The Voice to the concert grand piano: Giorgi Gigashvili combines Russian classics and new works.
Giorgi Gigashvili almost became a pop singer, having won the Georgian edition of the talent show »The Voice« at the age of 13. Fortunately, however, he remained loyal to the piano. When he won a piano competition a few years later with Martha Argerich as chair of the jury, his path was set.
After studying at the State Conservatory in his hometown of Tbilisi, he moved to Berlin in 2023 to study with Kirill Gerstein at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. For his concert, Giorgi Gigashvili has put together a programme that reflects his Eastern European roots. In addition to pieces by three key Russian composers of the 20th century, he will play a commissioned work by Natalie Beridze, who also comes from Tbilisi and lived in Cologne from 2002 to 2008.
Rising Stars is a project of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Giorgi Gigashvili was nominated by the Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Philharmonie Luxembourg and NOSPR Katowice.
