From the New World

The electrifying rhythms, euphoric dances and enchanting melodies of Antonín Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony provide so many magical musical moments that this masterpiece could easily fill a concert programme all on its own.

For one thing, it features world-class artists capable of fulfilling even the highest of expectations. The outstanding Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Manfred Honeck and joined in the first half by celebrated violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. She has chosen to play the Second Violin Concerto by Krzysztof Pendereckis which was composed especially for her. In this work, Pendereckis creates deep emotions and a highly expressive range of sound, which are testimony to his reputation as one of the most significant composers of the 20th century.
