Joseph Haydn and Richard Strauss at their best: The Vienna Philharmonic unfolds the magic of sound.
Once again, the much-vaunted »golden sound« of the Wiener Philharmoniker will be heard live in Cologne. Under the sensitive and haunting musical direction of Daniel Harding, they tell great stories full of passion.
Josef Haydn's Symphony in F minor already bears the passion in its title: »La Passione«! It combines a beautifully dark lament with dramatic fire. Passion also characterizes the late Romantic tone poems about the dangerous seducer Don Juan and the touching knight of sorrow, Don Quixote. Richard Strauss immersed their adventures in colorful sounds. The Wiener Philharmoniker are just as familiar with this luscious sound as they are with the clarity of Wiener Klassik.
