Harpsichord and grand piano: Olga Pashchenko bridges the gap between Baroque and Ligeti

Olga Pashchenko is one of the few pianists of our time who plays various keyboard instruments with equal virtuosity. So what could be more natural than bringing together two widely separated eras?

Domenico Scarlatti was perhaps the most famous piano composer of the Italian Baroque era. His more than 500 sonatas shine and sparkle in a wide variety of colors. Olga Pashchenko pairs miniatures with the irresistible, elemental power of György Ligeti's “Musica ricercata,” composed in the mid-1950s: “New music out of nothing,” says Ligeti. It takes the sheer endless curiosity and great prudence of an Olga Pashchenko to unite both composers in one concert, on harpsichord and modern grand piano.
