Mahler Academy Orchestra | Philipp von Steinaecker

Mahler 9
The conductor Philipp von Steinaecker with curly hair and a dark suit leads an orchestra.

Mahler’s Ninth in its original form: wistful and life-affirming

Original and authentic: Gustav Mahler's wistful Ninth Symphony has never been experienced like this before!  Playing on instruments from the period in which they were composed opens up unheard-of worlds of sound. They enchant and move listeners in a whole new way.

Historically informed late Romanticism is a passion of Philipp von Steinaecker, a maestro with an eye for detail and grand gestures. With the fledgling Mahler Academy Orchestra (which brings together top musicians from leading international ensembles), he explores compositions that paved the way for the 20th century in exciting original sounds. Even Gustav Mahler's wistful, life-affirming, involuntary farewell work seems fresher than ever in this light. A sensitive gateway to modernity!
