Kanze Noh Theater

Kanze Noh Theater | Kiyokazu Kanze, 26. Großmeister der Kanze-Schule
Japanese Noh theatre is pure magic! The costumes are exquisite, and the masks are unique works of art. Accompanied by the sounds of flutes and drums, ancient stories that everyone can understand are told through just a few carefully choreographed movements. The Kanze Noh Theatre, based in Tokyo, presents no fewer than three musical fairy tales during its guest performance – an experience you won’t forget in a hurry.
The Kanze Noh Theatre is not only one of the most famous of its kind, but also one of the most traditional. Its history dates back to the 14th century. And, in keeping with tradition, leadership is passed down through the family. Under the direction of Kiyokazu Kanze, the 26th Grand Master of the Kanze School, three classics of Noh theatre can now be experienced, which are at times immensely funny and at others deeply moving.
A guest performance as part of the 2026 European Tour and a joint initiative of the Berliner Festspiele/Musikfest Berlin, the Japanese-German Centre Berlin, musica viva from Bayerischer Rundfunk, Bozar – Centre for Fine Arts/Brussels, Kölner Philharmonie/KölnMusik and the Japanese Cultural Institute Cologne/The Japan Foundation.
