Jan Lisiecki | Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest | Lahav Shani

Portrait Lahav Shani
Two young virtuosos of their craft in a concertante pas de deux: pianist Jan Lisiecki joins Maestro Lahav Shani to perform the music of Edvard Grieg, a pinnacle of the Romantic piano concerto. The perfect ingredients for a musical highlight!
In his only piano concerto, he speaks entirely in his own, Nordic-influenced language. Here, Edvard Grieg is entirely himself – whilst simultaneously delivering one of the most popular contributions to the genre of the solo concerto. Pianist Jan Lisiecki is barely older than Grieg was at the time of his composition. The Canadian has already demonstrated his exceptional qualities in the Romantic repertoire on numerous occasions. We will experience Lahav Shani in one of his final concerts as chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, before he takes over the Munich Philharmonic after the summer break. With his top-class Dutch ensemble, Shani will also perform Johannes Brahms’ joyful and festive Second Symphony.
