Cuarteto Casals

Longing, jubilation, melancholy – the Cuarteto Casals brings string quartets to life
The world of string quartets is a crowded one. But the Cuarteto Casals has secured its place there as one of the best chamber music ensembles. Even frequently heard classics appear in new splendour.
American orchestras are often referred to as the »Big Five«. If there were something comparable among the world's leading string quartets, the Cuarteto Casals would certainly be among them. Founded in Madrid in 1997, the ensemble stands not only for technical perfection, but also for the highest intensity of expression. It memorably lays bare the different emotional currents of the music, whether longing, despair, melancholy or jubilation. In addition to classics by Haydn and Mendelssohn, the Cuarteto Casals also presents a new work by Spanish composer Raquel García-Tomás.
