Bomsori | Junge Deutsche Philharmonie | Sir George Benjamin

Four sound painters, four eras, four masterpieces: Strauss, Debussy, Szymanowski and Benjamin
Four composers from different countries and eras, united by their exquisite sense of distinctive timbres and sophisticated combinations of instruments. Instead of brushes and canvases, they paint their dazzling works with notes on the score.
Richard Strauss, a master of orchestration, found captivating and touching tones for the feverish dream of a dying man in »Tod und Verklärung« (Death and Transfiguration). A few years later, the ocean glitters in the spray of waves in Claude Debussy's »La Mer«. A few years later, the richly orchestrated Karol Szymanowski's First Violin Concerto shimmers to the virtuoso playing of the solo violin, while in George Benjamin's »Concerto for Orchestra«, each individual orchestra musician becomes a soloist.
