This wonderful double concerto – premiered at Cologne's Gürzenich in 1887 under the baton of the composer – was Johannes Brahms' last orchestral work.  The Hungarian-style theme at the end of the third movement contrasts with the powerful opening of the Schicksalssinfonie (Fate Symphony)!
