Angélique Kidjo

What a wonderful theme for a concert! “Hope” – hope “for better times” – was already promised by Wolf Biermann at his legendary concert in Cologne’s Sporthalle in the autumn of 1976. One can only assume that Angélique Kidjo has something similar in mind when she takes to the stage with her inimitably positive attitude.

Almost out of nowhere, the singer, born in Benin, Africa, creates an atmosphere that has the concert-goers on their feet. In a brightly coloured outfit, with sparkling eyes and a white, tousled hairstyle, Angélique Kidjo has an enormous stage presence; with stunning expressiveness, she fills the hall with her voice. We can expect another huge party with the audience, where the distinction between stage and auditorium seems to disappear.
