Wagemut – Ravel & Saint-Saëns

Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev, who now lives in Berlin, is a rising star in the classical music world. He won his first international competition at the age of 13. Camille Saint-Saëns' Second Piano Concerto, with its pathos and sparkling virtuosity, is the perfect choice for Malofeev's WDR debut. The other two works in the programme are also French: Maurice Ravel's »La Valse« is a brilliant tribute to the Viennese waltz. Lionel Bringuier also conducts Albert Roussel's brilliant but rarely heard Third Symphony.
