Universen – Măcelaru & Isabelle Faust

Dmitri Shostakovich's Second Violin Concerto is intensely resonant and moving. Although it is in a minor key, it also radiates a great deal of hope. Shostakovich's concerto is a favourite work of Isabelle Faust, who is associated with the WDR Symphony Orchestra as »Artist in Residence«. This is hardly surprising, as her unique playing combines perfection and brilliance with tremendous depth. As a highlight to conclude the season, Cristian Măcelaru conducts the Third Symphony by his Romanian compatriot George Enescu. This opulent work for orchestra and choir overwhelms with its power and strength.
