The Cuba Project

The first major joint project between American composer, arranger and conductor Vince Mendoza and the WDR Big Band – the flamenco jazz suite »Jazzpaña« – earned him a Grammy nomination in 1992. Mendoza has been working regularly with the Cologne-based jazz orchestra ever since, and has held the position of composer in residence since 2016. He regularly brings renowned guest musicians from all over the world to the Rhine, demonstrating the international calibre of the big band. 

For his new production »The Cuba Project«, Vince Mendoza was able to recruit Carlitos del Puerto and Luisito Quintero, two of the most outstanding musicians on the current Latin American music scene.
