The fact that Shannon Barnett performs in no fewer than two ensembles serves as further proof of just how vibrant and creative Cologne’s jazz scene is. For the past twelve years, the trombonist, pianist, singer and professor at the Cologne University of Music and Dance has been enriching the scene with her original contributions.

She once came to Cologne straight from New York to play trombone in the WDR Big Band. But the Australian-born musician is not only impressive in large ensembles: she also showcases her impressive technique in her own quartet (here expanded to include three friends), and her versatility enables Shannon Barnett to perform a singer-songwriter project with the EOS Chamber Orchestra on a grand scale.
