Mette Henriette

»Drifting«
A smiling woman with long hair (Mette Henriette) wears a sleeveless top. She stands outdoors with a blurred background.

Mette Henriette enchants with ethereal jazz that bridges folk and contemporary styles – intimate, poetic, magical

Norway has long been home to some of the most magical voices in European jazz. The same goes for the saxophone. Perhaps the most enchanting of these voices belongs to Mette Henriette. And just what a poet she is on the tenor saxophone is demonstrated on her latest trio album, ‘Drifting’, which was named ‘Best Record of the Year’ by the US jazz magazine ‘DownBeat’ in 2023.

As on her acclaimed debut album, Mette Henriette has chosen a line-up of saxophone, piano and cello for her gentle compositions that celebrate tranquillity and beauty. Together with her fellow musicians, Henriette now forms a collective that breathes as one, in which jazz, folk and contemporary composition merge in a wondrous way. Specially designed light installations also lend this evening a special magic.
