Wearing words, bringing melodies to life – the sound of Emily Wittbrodt.
Emily Wittbrodt finds her own sound between the cello and language: in »Wearing Words«, she transforms melodies into poetic soundscapes – delicate, idiosyncratic and full of linguistic experimentation.
For Emily Wittbrodt, how words fit into melodies is almost as important as their meaning. For her project »Wearing Words«, she wrote English lyrics to melodies that had already been composed – a process that lies somewhere between linguistic intoxication and sound research. With vocals and musicians from the worlds of jazz, pop and improvisation, the result is music of fragile beauty, in which baroque, electronic and pop merge into an intimate tapestry of sound.
