»Rhythm«

Intense freedom of sound without music stands and chairs: »Boléro«, »Le Sacre du printemps« and »Rhapsody in Blue«
Since its first concert in 2014, the Aurora Orchestra, founded by conductor Nicholas Collon, has been guaranteeing thrilling new listening experiences. The orchestra plays even the most demanding classics, such as Ravel's »Boléro« and Strawinsky's »Le Sacre du printemps«, entirely from memory. This creates a more intense relationship with the music, which is immediately conveyed to the audience. Pianist and YouTube star Hayato Sumino takes on the solo part in Gershwin's »Rhapsody in Blue«.
The incredible freedom of playing music without music stands and chairs is also reflected in the dance-like rhythms with which the British orchestra pulsates through two legendary ballet compositions. Ravel's »Boléro« and Stravinsky's »Le Sacre du printemps« both caused scandals and furore in Paris. Gershwin, on the other hand, achieved sensational success with his jazzy, vibrant »Rhapsody in Blue«, which premiered in New York in 1924.
