Bellini: I Capuleti e i Montecchi

Bellini's masterpiece meets the Ensemble Resonanz: Romeo and Juliet interpreted in a new and moving way
The tragic story of Romeo and Juliet continues to fascinate people to this day. Vincenzo Bellini composed an opera based on Shakespeare's play. The Ensemble Resonanz is bringing »I Capuleti e i Montecchi« to Cologne with a renowned cast of soloists.
When Vincenzo Bellini premiered his opera »I Capuleti e i Montecchi« in Venice in 1830, Shakespeare's drama »Romeo und Julia« was almost unknown in Italy, even though the story is set in Verona. Bellini transformed the story of the famous lovers into a bel canto masterpiece. The Ensemble Resonanz is known for presenting even well-known works in a new light – thanks in part to its conductor Riccardo Minasi, who can count on top-class soloists for this concert performance with the WDR Rundfunkchor.
