Beat Lab

This workshop is all about beat, groove, and movement. We’ll start with body percussion—no instruments at all, just our own bodies. Then we’ll get creative: We’ll make music with balls, tubes, boxes, books, buckets, and anything else that might sound surprisingly good. And the best part: You can put what you try out in the workshop into practice right away at the concert that evening. As part of the audience, you’ll become part of the ensemble yourselves and, together with the musicians, contribute to the concert from your seats. 

No prior experience necessary—just a love of rhythm, movement, and a concert evening where you become part of the sound yourself. 

Joining us is Dominik Schad, drummer and member of the treppenhausorchester in the “DISCO” program. He has been touring worldwide for over ten years, including with the show STOMP. He also teaches musical group work at the Berlin University of the Arts.
