When a concert with Abel Selaocoe is coming up, one inevitably wonders what the lively redhead might have come up with this time. The old adage, loosely based on Oscar Wilde, fits the South African cellist like no other: Expect the unexpected!

This is all the more true when he is joined by Dutch composer Michel van der Aa, a creative kindred spirit. In a new solo performance, Abel Selaocoe will perform his own compositions as well as a joint piece that was developed over two days last winter and commissioned by a number of European concert halls and institutions. It promises to be exciting.
