Rehearsals
A special experience in the Kölner Philharmonie for school classes of all grades: rehearsal time. During this exclusive, half-hour rehearsal, the pupils get an exciting insight into a rehearsal and are there live when the conductor and musicians talk to each other. The WDR ensembles, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the Kölner Philharmonie have put together a suitable programme for all class levels.
To prepare for and/or follow up on the rehearsal visit, you will find suitable teaching material to download from January 2026.
Rehearsal time for school classes is organised by the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne together with KölnMusik and WDR.

A warm, colourful sound and unusual interpretations characterise the playing of the Eternum Saxophone Quartet. During "rehearsal time", the pupils experience a rehearsal of the quartet with excerpts from classical and contemporary works. They also learn what makes playing in a quartet special for the four musicians.

The WDR Symphony Orchestra plays excerpts from the famous Violin Concerto No. 1 by Dimitri Shostakovich and parts from the 2nd Symphony by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

Registration information
Duration: approx. 30 minutes, each from 12-12:30 pm
Costs: The "rehearsal time" is free of charge.
Note: Participation only possible after confirmed registration. For safety reasons, please refrain from bringing large bags and rucksacks.
