Symphonisches Jugendblasorchester: Flowing Through Space and Time
A concert that brings people together: generations, soundscapes and a love for Cologne.
The young talents of the Rheinische Musikschule’s Symphonic Youth Wind Orchestra (SJBO) demonstrate just how vibrant and forward-looking Cologne sounds! Thanks to the cultural partnership between the Rheinische Musikschule, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the Rote Funken, the SJBO is firmly rooted in Cologne: a partnership steeped in tradition and dedicated to guiding young people towards a bright, melodious future.
Closely associated with the orchestra is the composer Rolf Rudin, who will take to the stage in person before the performance of his work ‘Aufbruch’ to greet the audience. With ‘Legacy’ by Oscar Navarro, the oboist Bomin Bang – a trainee with the Gürzenich Orchestra – and the SJBO will together produce a cascade of virtuoso sounds. The concert concludes with David Maslanka’s ‘Traveler’, a composition brimming with kinetic energy, featuring motifs and rhythms that are at times minimalist yet always driving the music forward: a sonic experience that offers a real sense of ‘flow’!
