Michael Barenboim | Sindy Mohamed | Cairo Symphony Orchestra | Ahmed El Saedi

The Cairo Symphony Orchestra celebrates its Cologne debut with Mozart, Dvořák and virtuoso soloists.
Since its founding in 1959, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra has been regarded as Egypt's melodious ambassador of classical music. Throughout its history, it has been led by renowned guest conductors such as Charles Münch, Yehudi Menuhin and Daniel Barenboim. The orchestra will make its Cologne debut under the baton of its principal conductor Ahmed El Saedi with works by Mozart and Dvořák – together with violinist Michael Barenboim and French-Egyptian violist Sindy Mohamed.
A musical »prologue« penned by the conductor will be followed by Mozart's popular »Sinfonia concertante«. In it, the violin and viola are transformed into wonderfully melodious, equal conversational partners, thanks in part to a brilliant Mozartian trick. Dvořák's »Czech Suite« then transports the listener to a Bohemian folk festival with all its polka and furiant rhythms.
