Johann Sebastian Bach: Messe h-Moll BWV 232

Isabel Schicketanz | Alice Lackner | Florian Cramer | Jens Hamann | Kölner Kantorei | Kammerchor BachVokal | Barockorchester arcipelago | Georg Hage: Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach's »Messe h-Moll« (Mass in B minor) has been part of UNESCO's Memory of the World Register since 2015 – but it has been one of humanity's great artistic legacies long before that. Bach created a timeless masterpiece that still moves us deeply today, some 300 years after its creation.
In his last great vocal work, Bach left behind something of a summary of his compositional achievements and deals with the really big themes: loneliness and despair, joy and happiness. And when, at the end, the trumpets in »Dona nobis pacem« rub their harmonies together in a painfully beautiful way, there is something like hope for a peaceful world. The Kölner Kantorei is supported in this epoch-making work by the Kammerchor BachVokal and the Barockorchester aecipelago, which is very familiar with the secrets of baroque music.
