Gürzenich-Chor Köln

Zum 200. Jubiläum des Gürzenich-Chors Köln
Haydn's musical setting of the story of creation is one of the great masterpieces of Viennese Classicism. The sublime choruses are given extraordinary impact by the large ensemble of the Choralspace Festival Choir, further emphasizing the grandeur of the work.
Stylistically diverse and dynamic, Haydn set to music an adaptation of Milton's poem »Paradise Lost« in which the archangels Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel describe the creation of the world in six days—sometimes together, sometimes alternating with the choir, which expresses its joy and fascination with God's work in a rousing manner. The union of the Gürzenich Choir Cologne with international guest choirs to form the large Choralspace Festival Choir promises an extraordinary sound experience.
